Where can I get advice on buy-to-let mortgages

Knowing where to turn for your buy to let mortgage advice in a complex market can appear difficult.  Where do you start?  Here are a few options for you to consider –

  • Online: There is a vast amount of information at our fingertips today and the same can be said about mortgages. Using your preferred search engine can be an ideal place to start. A word of warning is that in an ever changing market some of the information online may not be up to date.
  • High Street: Lenders can be found on your high street however with many now closing it is starting to leave this route a little threadbare on choice.
  • Mortgage broker: A broker will be able to provide advice on buy to let mortgages and give you a one stop shop. Ensure you check if the broker is unlimited (commonly still referred to as whole of market or independent) such as ourselves here at Just Mortgage Brokers or if they are restricted to a panel of lenders.
  • Friends and Family: You should get honest advice from those closest to you however, unless they are qualified in the buy-to-let mortgage industry their advice may not be up to date and in turn possibly not correct.
  • Books: Yes, these can still be of use but again make sure they are up to date.  If not, much of the information will likely be incorrect.
